Here's to a FABULOUS week that has just begun!!

An enjoyable time was had at my amazing send off party last night!!! My wonderful director Christina Sacha is the one to thank for all her time and effort in making this happen. As she says "The Hostess with the Mostess!"- like always, she put on quite the event! At the beautiful La Sandia Restaurant at Park Meadows Vistas; my family, friends, sponsors, and all of my team at Miss Teen Colorado-World were there to celebrate this great adventure with me! As I leave tomorrow to compete for the title of Miss Teen United States-World 2011,  I know that no matter what the outcome of this experience, I know I will take this opportunity and cherish it for a lifetime.

  

I would like to thank ALL of you for coming to my send off party and giving me your best wishes as I get ready to head down to Texas! It has definitely been a whirlwind preparing for everything, but I can say I am now packed and ready to go!! I keep thinking to my self when am I going to wake up from this incredible dream... but it's a reality that I am overwhelmed to be living and I'm am going to live it to the fullest in anticipation for the opportunities ahead!

I am so truly blessed to have all of you a part of my life, I cant thank each one of you enough for your never ending support and encouragement. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers this week at nationals. I hope to represent Colorado with poise and dignity!

NATIONALS, Here I come!

As the time flies by preparing for Nationals, I am officially 2 weeks out preparing to compete for the title of Miss Teen United States-World 2011. It's officially Pageant crunch time! I will be leaving Sunday, June 26th and Monday morning is when a packed week full of craziness begins! I cant believe that in a blink of an eye, I will be down in Houston with my sister Queens; Miss Jr. Teen Colorado-World Ashley Berry and Jessica Hartman Miss Colorado Intercontinental. I am truly grateful and SO SO excited for this amazing opportunity. Look out Houston, here we come!

What a fun day spending time at the Royal Image Boutique with my little sister Queen Ashley Berry! When we were'nt visiting with customers, we were browsing and trying on all the gorgeous dresses! With their 1st annual “Two Big Sales” a year sale, it was a great day to get out and shop the deals and even find a steal with 30% off every gown, cocktail dress, jewelry item, and shoe. It was perfect timing for a National Pageant coming up!

For a special Cause...

I was so honored to be a celebrity guest at the Carnival Fundraiser event for a very special young girl named Lizzy Lawton. At just 10 years old and Lizzy was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma. It has spread throughout her entire body. Over a year ago, Lizzy started complaining of hip pains. She was brought to Children's  Hospital and then followed up with her pediatrician. At that time, her pediatrician insisted it was calcium buildup and growing pains. In April of 2011, Lizzy started to run a daily fever which brought her in for more testing. Which eventually lead to her diagnosis. This teaches me to be cautious of others and my own body's concerns that I now have learned not to ignore. I can only imagine when I was 10 years old, and for what this young girl is going through is just devastating to myself and all of her family, friends and supporters around Colorado. She is truly one of the strongest girls I know! A dear friend to Lizzy; Esra O'Callaghan was so gracious enough to throw a Carnival Fundraiser in her honor to help in any way shape or form to provide support and hope for sweet Lizzy. As advertised on radio stations and churches everywhere in Colorado, we have raised awareness for her in hopes that she will soon be healed. Although as much fun the carnival was, Lizzy was not able to attend because of her treatments and I plan to visit her as soon as possible at the hospital.  Myself, Esra the Miss Teen Colorado-World Organization and all of her loved ones thank everyone for coming out to support our cause, it is without a doubt a life long contribution for Lizzy and her family and they are so truly grateful.  We Love You Lizzy!!

What an amazing night spent with my fabulous Director Christina Sacha and her entire team that creates absolute magic- and a very special thank you to Megan Anderson at Graphique Fine Art Photography for capturing every moment of it! I cant thank my team of sponsors enough for donating their time to make every step to the crown count! Thank you to Kari Kisch, my wonderful makeup artist and without a doubt the best Makeup artist you will find anywhere Also to DJ McDermott of Timothy D's Salon, the top of the line hairstylist anyone could ask for.

They are without a doubt the 'Best of the Best', and surely they are THE 'Best of the Best' in Colorado. I can always count on them for making me pageant ready! I am so blessed to have the best in Colorado and even the nation!

~A Dream Come True~

IF YOU CAN DREAM  IT - YOU CAN DO IT!

            That is the motto I live my everyday life by, it was a privilege for me to have the opportunity competing for the Miss Teen Colorado-World 2011 title. I had dreamed of this weekend all year and the time had finally come! As soon as I heard the words "Contestant #8, Victoria Korthuis is our new Miss Teen Colorado World 2011"!! My journey had began...April 30th 2011 - the night I was crowned Miss Teen Colorado-World changed my life! It was not only a dream come true, but a night full of mixed emotions...

            After interview earlier that morning, opening number, and the swimsuit competition; it was time for evening gown- by far my most favorite part of competition. I had saved the most gorgeous gown for it, and it looked absolutely stunning. I had dreamed of this moment for weeks! Back stage we had limited time to change and my chaperone was helping me zip up my gown. Then the nightmare began... My zipper got caught on the hanger loop inside and broke! The current reigning queen, Heidi Hume came to my rescue in such a selfless and caring way and I will never forget the kindness she showed me. She pulled off the rack, the gown she had saved for her final walk in the spot light and said "put this on!" We both cried and she pulled me together and out to the stage I went. I am so grateful for her generosity and I cant even begin to explain how appreciative I am for that. From that experience I know I want to model myself after her as a queen, and for those who compete next year or in any other pageant; I will always be there for encouragement and such compassion as Heidi showed me.  She is truly an amazing woman and I am so privileged to be following in her footsteps. I would also like to send an enormous thank you to our fabulous director Christina Sacha, we are all so incredibly lucky to be apart of her organization! She put on a show like no other; she, like always, has raised the bar and I'm sure it will be a challenge to top all or her amazing work she has put in.

            I anticipate my journey ahead as I prepare for the National Pageant- Miss Teen United States-World! The count down had begun with it being only 3 weeks away! The pageant will be held June 27th through July 2nd.  I have a lot to prepare for as I follow in the footsteps of Heidi who earned 1st runner up to the crown last year, and it is my goal to make Colorado proud and bring home the National crown this year!

As your new Miss Teen Colorado-World 2011 I am honored to be representing our wonderful state and I hope to embody this organization in a positive manor. Thank you to all my family, friends and supporters who have believed in me and my dreams thus far. I am so blessed to have the on going support from each one of you. Let the journey begin, and here is to a dazzling 2011!
